How to: Change your Product Code

You are annoyed of your phone because it has a simlock or is from a provider, so that you can´t update your firmware as soon as the update comes out?

So, in this tutorial I will show you how to change your product code. If you change your provider-product code to a free product code you have a branding-free mobile phone.

At first I want to say, that you shouldn´t change it if you have no knowledge of your device. Only change it if you know what you are doing!

If you make something wrong, you could damage your phone and if you have changed the Product Code you won´t have warranty anymore. So first think exactly about what you´re doing.

!!!IMPORTANT: Don´t make a backup over the integrated backup-function of your phone before changing the PC (Product Code), because after that nothing will work anymore.!!!

For every phone there are different PC´s. You can find them in the internet via google, here is a list of some product codes.

Here an important list of the included languages in the different PC´s:

EURO1: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese
EURO2: English, French, German, Turkish, Dutch, Italian
EURO3: English, Czech, Slovakian, German, Polish, Hungarian
SCANDINAVIA: English, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Danish
BALTIC: English, German, Estonian, Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian
RUSSIA: English, German, Ukrainian, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian
BALKANS: English, German, Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Greek
ARABIC: English, Arabic, French, Farsi, Urdu
HEBREW: English, Hebrew, Arabian, Russian, Romanian, Spanish
AFRICA: English, Portuguese, German, Italian, French

Let´s start with changing your Product Code… (*click on the screenshots to enlarge them)

1. Download Nemesis Service Suite here.

2. Now install NSS on your computer.

3. You have installed NSS succesfully on your computer? Okay, let´s start with changing your PC.

4. Start NSS, then plug your device into the computer and choose “PC Suite”. Now click on “scan for new device” in the top right corner of NSS.

5. Now NSS should have found your device.

6. Click on “Phone Info”

7. Enter the PC you want on your phone, then mark “Enabled” and click on “Write”.

8. Now you have changed the PC of your phone and you can close NSS.

As you can see it is very easy to change your phones Product Code.

  5. as per firefoxfx’s comment “How can we know to what Product Code to change the existing Product Code into???”

  6. It´s your work to find out in which PC you want to flash, because for every phone there are several codes.

If you can´t update your N95 to 21.0.016 e.g. you have to find a Euro or APAC PC for it.

Just search after e.g. “Euro1 Nokia N95″ in google or somewhere…

  8. I’ve installed NSS but it doesn’t work. I’ve connected my phone with USP cable and the driver of that cable is installed because I am already accessing it by PC suit. During instillation I tried all possible hardware provided by the program but I didn’t get any thing. When I make search the program can’t see any device.

    Thanks a lot
    Tahseen

  10. I seem to have the same problem as “Anonymous said this on April 9, 2008 at 10:35 pm” – I´m getting: “Reading values….error!”

  11. hi there.. i tried changing the product code of 6500 slide edition

seems like the NSS doesnt support 6500 yet?

    Hope you can help??

    thanks in advance:)

  12. The problem with NSS replying “Reading values….Error!” is related to the version of Nokia PC Suite installed.
I had the latest PC Suite installed (6.86.9.0) and NSS could not read any of my Nokia phones. After a complete uninstall of everything labelled Nokia (including all old cable drivers) on my Windows XP system and a reinstall of PC Suite version 6.84 + NSS everything worked just fine.

  13. Thanks! I uninstalled everything labelled Nokia, even in regestry. I did not reinstall but tried to connect with NSS – it worked! The firmware update went well too.

  27. I have just one last question, Ok four questions. Has anyone changed the PC on a Nokia 6110 Navigator? Did it work? Where did you download the firmware, or software to make this work? Or as they call this in Russia “Russification. русификация телефонов Nokia”. I am going to Russia at the end of October should I wait or does anyone really know? If you know drop me a line, I would like to hear from you. Sorry about being so blunt, but as you I am tired of all the BS.

  28. Hi I have followed the instructions for my 6110 all the way and it says write new values… done it takes a matter of seconds. I have double checked the new PC is on the phone which it is but when I start NSU it says Nokia already up to date and optus is still on my phone (which I dont want). Could the PC be wrong I have tried a few…any suggestions.

  29. hey Chris, I am going to Russia in October, and I will have my phone converted there, along with a Russian key pad. This site along with similar “techno sites” can talk the talk, but can’t walk the walk. They have nothing better to do then listen to them selfs. Its better to pay for a service then to receive advice from BS”ers. Good Luck Chris youll need if you wait for something on these sites.
